Using this jQuery plug-in, you can set links to open in a new window without breaking XHTML validation. The code comes from 456 Berea Street, with slight modifications made by me (moving “new window” to a title rather than appending it to the link text). I also provided a link that is helpful in getting this code to work in WordPress.
